Across the nation our team has changed the way we travel while minding social distance and the changing travel restrictions. Baggage claim has changed into strapping bags onto our roof racks, layovers have changed into road trips, and passport stamps have turned into new miles on our odometer. The way we explore may have changed—but the journey is still as exciting! Below are a few ways we suggest to “get away” from it all safely:

1) Road trips. There’s a reason “Route 66” was written in 1964—to pay homage to the pastime of open spaces and driving them! Whether you are driving through the desert, lush forests, towering mountains, or endless coastlines; driving gives you an opportunity to see the journey mile by mile. Stopping every hundred miles may just be for gasoline and an iced tea but those stops can be so much more than that! Sometimes the most eclectic things are found off the beaten path. From historic diners, antique stores, national landmarks, or a perfect sunset—you never know what you will find!

2) Camping. Whether you are a seasoned camper or new to the outdoors there is always a connection with nature that recharges everyone’s soul. At Backwoods Promotions we are true outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy connecting with the world around us. New or seasoned campers should take a look at America’s National Parks website and Parks Canada—to see updated news on campsites, park openings, and seasonal weather updates.

3) RVing. A great way to get away from it all can be taking an RV! Whether you own your own recreational vehicle or you are looking to rent one for an adventure the possibilities are endless. RV’s give you the freedom of the open road, and open the possibilities to staying wherever you would like--with all of the amenities you enjoy! RV trips are great for families of all sizes, families, or just a small group to go out and see the wilderness. Not ready to invest in your own RV? You can rent them! Check out RV Share, Cruise America, and also Outdoorsy for more information.

4) Staycation. We often become familiar in the towns that we live but that doesn’t mean we have seen it all! A staycation is a “mini-vacation” in your own hometown! Often people will rent a place to stay for a few days, book a hotel, or even home swap with someone they know and go to new areas they have never been. Pretend you are a tourist by going to see a museum you have only heard about, a lake you have never launched your boat, a new hiking trail outside of town, or even a beach spot you have yet to see—it will surprise you how a new view from your hometown can feel like a whole new place!

5) Your Own Backyard. Admit it, when is the last time you set down a blanket, packed your favorite meal and enjoyed a moment outside in your own backyard? Some of our staff have busy schedules, and cannot get away for a few days—so what better way to enjoy the outdoors than in your own backyard? When was the last time you counted the stars during a campfire in your deck chairs? The best adventure you can enjoy with family and friends may be in your own backyard!
