Oftentimes, brand ambassadors are required to take event pictures to provide to a client during or after an event. As a result, it's up to you to capture the hype and energy at an event, which can be a fun challenge at times, especially at crazy, and busy events! Here are some of our tips for how to take great pictures at an event:

Charge it up!

At an event our phones are important to have as long as they are being used for the right reasons. Make sure you have clear permission from the client or event manager to use your phone to take pictures, or alternatively you may be asked to use a camera or tablet that is provided. Be sure to obtain clear expectations in regards to what type of content is needed. Perhaps the client wants pictures when the booth is busy, or they want images of guests participating in a certain activation. Either way, make sure you arrange coverage for yourself so you can step away, take the required pictures, and return to the activation with little interruption. Make sure you arrive with a fully charged phone or make sure the provided tablet is charged at the beginning of a shift. Alternatively, you may want to bring a portable charging device as a backup, just in case.

E for Effort

Always make sure images are good quality, otherwise the client may ask for new ones. Here are a few additional tips for taking great pictures:

Tips:

1.Make sure you and your team’s appearance is polished, uniforms are fresh, shirts are wrinkle free and tucked in, shoes are tied, clean, and the right color.

2. Make sure the booth is tidy, without unrelated brand items in sight

3. Lighting is a big deal. The fluorescent glow in a tradeshow hall can really hinder the quality of a photo.Toggle between flash or no flash to see if that helps. If you are outside, face towards the sun rather than having it behind you, causing everything in your photo to appear dark. You may also want to take pictures in the morning or late afternoon for better lighting.

4. Play with different photo angles to offer the client variety

5. Be enthusiastic, have fun, and smile big!

6. Ensure guests sign a photo usage waiver if required and/or ask for parents permission when taking pictures of children

Showcase the brand

That’s what we're there to do, right? When you capture a photo we want to see the brand you’re promoting. If you're wearing a shirt with a logo, make sure your hair is not covering it up and you can see your brand's signage in the background. Also, consider the items in your booth and work with what you have. Instead of just smiling and posing, get creative! Hold up your giveaways or pose with your iPad.

At Backwoods Promotions we enjoy coming up with new ways to keep our staff informed by sharing tips and advice enabling YOU to be as successful as possible at each event and beyond.

If you ever have questions or concerns, we’re here to help.
